A real remote, not a web page.
Arrows, OK, Back, Home, volume, mute, playback and channels, laid out like the remote in your hand, plus a touchpad for the webOS pointer.
Orimote · For Mac, Windows and Linux
Lost the remote again? Pair once and control your LG TV from your MacPC: navigate, switch inputs, launch apps and type, all over your home network.
macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple silicon and Intel) · Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) · Linux (Ubuntu 22.04+ / Debian 12+) · LG webOS TVs
Free to download. Tested on an LG OLED C4; recent LG webOS TVs use the same protocol.

Between the couch cushions, under a blanket, in another room. Orimote puts every button one click away, and lets your keyboard do the typing.
Built natively for one job: driving an LG TV from your MacPC, with no cloud in between.
Arrows, OK, Back, Home, volume, mute, playback and channels, laid out like the remote in your hand, plus a touchpad for the webOS pointer.
See every installed app with its real icon and every HDMI input by name. Jump straight to Netflix or your PS5 without scrolling a launcher.
Approve the prompt on the TV, or enter the PIN it shows. The app remembers the key and reconnects on its own.
Turn the TV off from your MacPC and bring it back with Wake-on-LAN. Standby is detected, so the status is never stale.
TV search boxes are painful. Type on your MacPC keyboard and send the text straight to the focused field.
Discovers LG TVs on your network automatically, or add one by IP address. Switch between several TVs from the toolbar.
Follows your system's light or dark appearance and speaks your language: English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Français, Deutsch and Español.

Built-in MCP server
Orimote speaks the Model Context Protocol. Claude, Cursor, Codex and other agents can check the TV, launch apps, switch inputs, change the volume and turn it on or off, using the same paired, local connection.
tv_poweraction: "on"tv_launch_appapp: "YouTube"tv_volumeaction: "set", level: 15Copy the config from Settings → MCP Service. Use HTTP for clients that take a URL, or stdio for the rest; the app starts itself when needed.

On a Mac, drag the app to Applications and allow Local Network access when macOS asks. On Windows, just run the installer. On Linux, install the .deb with sudo apt install ./orimote_*.deb.
Pick your TV from the list and approve the prompt on screen, or enter the PIN it shows.
Use the remote, launch apps and switch inputs, or hand the job to your AI agent.
Orimote talks to your TV directly. No account. No cloud. No analytics.
Uses LG's local webOS protocol on your home network. Nothing passes through an outside server.
The TV's certificate is pinned at first pairing, so another device can't pose as your TV.
The agent server binds to 127.0.0.1 and rejects requests coming from web pages.
No accounts, telemetry or ads. Pairing keys are stored only on your MacPC.
LG TVs running webOS with the second-screen (SSAP) protocol. It is tested on an LG OLED C4; most LG webOS TVs from recent years work the same way.
Make sure the MacPC and the TV are on the same network, pick the TV in Devices and click Connect. Approve the prompt on the TV, or choose PIN pairing and type the code shown on screen. You only do this once.
The app needs it to find and talk to the TV on your home network; without it, macOS blocks the connection. You can change it later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
Yes, with Wake-on-LAN. On the TV, turn on “Turn on via Wi-Fi” (also called Mobile TV On) in the connection settings. The TV must have been connected once, so the app knows its MAC address.
Open Settings → MCP Service and copy the HTTP or stdio config into your agent's MCP settings, for example in Cursor or Claude Desktop. Then ask things like “Open Netflix on the TV”.
No. The app talks to your TV directly over your LAN. There is no account, no analytics and no server. Even app icons are loaded from the TV itself.
macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon or Intel, 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, or Linux with GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+; x86_64 or ARM64). The interface is available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German and Spanish.
The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns about it. Click More info → Run anyway. It installs for your user only and needs no administrator rights.
